B&C’s Top 15 Places To Have Wintertime Fun In Northern Michigan

Everyone knows that Northern Michigan is a flurry of festivities and fun in the warmer months, but how can you stay active and entertained in our area during the wintertime? We asked our team what their favorite local winter activities were, aside from helping their clients buy and sell their dream homes, of course, and one thing became abundantly clear: Whether out in the elements or indoors, Brick & Corbett welcomes winter!

Bundle Up, & Head Outdoors

“Snowshoeing in Pelizzari Natural Area! It’s so beautiful and has trails that are good for everyone.”

Betsy Corbett, Leadership Team, Brick & Corbett

“In the winter our family loves to get outdoors and go ice skating, it’s such a great activity for all ages. The city maintains several ice skating rinks including ones at Thirlby Field & Traverse Heights Elementary. We can’t wait for the one at F&M Park to be finished because it’s so convenient for us!”

Kecia Brick, Leadership Team, Brick & Corbett

Hickory Hills and Mt. Holiday are right in Traverse City, so it’s super convenient to take the kids skiing for a couple hours after school. Cross country and downhill skiing are the best ways to get active outdoors as a family in the wintertime! You can rent kids and adults ski gear right onsite. Plus, Hickory’s bunny hill has a “magic carpet” which is free all day every day”

Lydia Wiley Smith, Real Estate Specialist, Brick & Corbett

“I love to get outside and go snowshoeing on our beautiful local trails whenever and wherever I can!”

Sarah Dykes, Real Estate Specialist, Brick & Corbett

“My favorite places are Hickory Hills Ski Area and Hickory Meadows. I grew up skiing there and it has an amazing learn-to-ski & racing program. There’s a variety of hills, a beautiful new lodge, & the tow ropes promote body strength, helping to develop many young local downhill skiers. Hickory Meadows also offers beautiful trails that are great for walkers, runners, and cross-country skiers.”

Head Indoors & Warm Up

Mundos BABY! Cozy place to sit and enjoy the best coffee in town. Two new locations are opening up in TC soon!”

Megan Tompkins, Client Care Coordinator, Brick & Corbett

“I love practicing my swing on the indoor golf simulator at X-Golf .”

Tommy Corbett, Leadership Team, Brick & Corbett

“As someone who is immunocompromised due to a chronic illness, I am forced to limit my outings. I really appreciate the ability to order quality food to enjoy at home. The taco kit from Mama Lu’s is a favorite. It’s all the great food I miss from dining out, in a complete kit. Plus, you can even get margs to-go! Olé!”

Erica Whittaker, Marketing Director, Brick & Corbett

“I enjoy The Leelanau Curling Club. It is such a unique way to have fun in our area.”

Dereck Dykes, Real Estate Specialist, Brick & Corbett

“A hidden gem in nearby Maple City is Broomstack Kitchen & Taphouse. There you can enjoy delicious food and beverages AND get a 2-hour learn-to-curl class, a really fun, indoor, group activity, regardless of time of year!”

BJ Brick, Leadership Team, Brick & Corbett

“Nothing quite compares to watching a performance at the Old Town Playhouse. We are so fortunate to have access to this kind of entertainment and culture in our own backyards. We recently took in a production of Disney’s Frozen Jr. by the OTP Young Company, and it was fantastic.”

Bob Brick, Leadership Team, Brick & Corbett

The Best of Both Out & In

Hop Lot has a yummy menu and features outdoor seating and bonfires in adorable little igloos- winter perfection!”

The Little Fleet. Outdoor heaters, fire pit, great cocktails, AND indoor “Happy’s Tacos”!
