“In the winter our family loves to get outdoors and go ice skating, it’s such a great activity for all ages. The city maintains several ice skating rinks including ones at Thirlby Field & Traverse Heights Elementary. We can’t wait for the one at F&M Park to be finished because it’s so convenient for us!”

“Hickory Hills and Mt. Holiday are right in Traverse City, so it’s super convenient to take the kids skiing for a couple hours after school. Cross country and downhill skiing are the best ways to get active outdoors as a family in the wintertime! You can rent kids and adults ski gear right onsite. Plus, Hickory’s bunny hill has a “magic carpet” which is free all day every day”

“My favorite places are Hickory Hills Ski Area and Hickory Meadows. I grew up skiing there and it has an amazing learn-to-ski & racing program. There’s a variety of hills, a beautiful new lodge, & the tow ropes promote body strength, helping to develop many young local downhill skiers. Hickory Meadows also offers beautiful trails that are great for walkers, runners, and cross-country skiers.”
